Our
Mission:
The
Mission of the St. Joseph Museums is to collect,
preserve, and showcase the natural and cultural heritage
of the City of St. Joseph, Missouri, and the surrounding area.
St.
Joseph Museum - The St. Joseph Museum is the
oldest of the four museums in the St. Joseph
Museums, Inc. system, beginning in 1927 as the
Children’s Museums of St. Joseph.
Glore
Psychiatric Museum - The Glore Psychiatric
Museum chronicles the 130-year history of what was
once known as the “State Lunatic Asylum No.
2.”
Black Archives
Museum - The Black Archives
Museum, originally known as the Knea-Von Black
Archives, was founded in 1991 by Jewell Robinson, a
former teacher at Bartlett High School in St.
Joseph, Missouri.
Wyeth
Tootle Mansion - St. Joseph is known for its
beautiful mansions built around the turn
of the 20th century, and the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion at the
corner of Eleventh and Charles Streets is a prime
example.
