The St Joseph Museum

The St. Joseph Museum is the oldest of the four museums in the St. Joseph Museums, Inc. system, beginning in 1927 as the Children’s Museums of St. Joseph. Traditionally, it has been dedicated to the cultural and natural history of St. Joseph. In 2005, the St. Joseph Museum moved to its current location on Frederick Avenue, and exhibits are still under development in this new location. It is well-known for its extensive Native American collection and exhibits include clothing, accessories, fans, pottery, pipes, weapons, kachinas, jewelry and archaeological artifacts from ten cultural regions of North America. Also currently featured are exhibits on the Lewis and Clark Expedition with emphasis on the journey through northwest Missouri. As new exhibits are developed, the website will be updated.

The St. Joseph Museum is located at 3406 Frederick Avenue, one mile west of I-29 on Frederick Blvd. (exit 47) Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
