About the Event
Travel back in time on a trip to a European village full of windmills and tulips as Pella, Iowa, residents celebrate the 84th anniversary of Tulip Time! The Dutch attire, parades, foods, dancing, and the sound of wooden shoes will transport you to the “Netherlands of the Midwest.”'
The trip will depart from the St. Joseph Museums on May 1, 2019, at 7:30 am. The first stop on the trip will be the Amana Colonies. There will be time to explore the handcrafted products in the quaint shops that line the streets. Lunch will be served family style at the Ronneburg Restaurant, which still uses an original communal kitchen to prepare traditional German dishes. A local historian will tell the story of the Amana Colonies and a culture found nowhere else.
In the evening, participants will enjoy dinner at Central College with a performance by the Duchesses. The following day, participants can enjoy all that Tulip Time has to offer from the Historical Village to craft, quilt, and flower shows. We will arrive back at the St. Joseph Museums at 10 pm on May 2, 2019.
Cost is $250 ($235 for members). The fee includes luxury motorcoach transportation, double occupancy hotel accommodations, four meals, snacks, step-on guide service, and all admission fees.
