About the Event

Kim Hopkins shares her memoir narrating a mother’s journey with her son, who not only is subject to a mental illness, but experiences the devastating effects of brain surgery gone wrong. In, the book, she tells about her son Cory, who was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at age 24 and underwent subsequent brain surgery that went wrong. Hopkins shares, “Everyone’s story is unique. Mental illness can take many forms and how the family unit reacts to it determines the outcome that person may have. It is just a different way of living. There is no ‘normal.’  You can find humor in almost any situation.” Kim Hopkins is a semiretired registered nurse living in Kingston, Missouri. Shopping with a Schizophrenic is her debut book.
